OpenTTCN Performance Benchmark Whitepaper - Latency

OpenTTCN Ltd has produced a performance benchmark whitepaper providing analysis of the latency involved in sending and receiving messages to and from the System Under Test (SUT). The whitepaper describes performance measurements of OpenTTCN Tester software focusing on latency in the System Under Test (SUT) communications. The paper provides numbers suitable for evaluating the usability of OpenTTCN Tester software for testing of low-level protocols and other real-time applications with TTCN-3. Low-level protocols often impose hard real-time requirements, which the test system has to match to produce useful results.

The test used is measuring the duration of a TTCN-3 send & receive pair run inside a loop. Performance timers are used to capture exact start and end times for each iteration of the loop. Various statistics are then compiled from the timing information.
